I have three children. Three beautiful, intelligent children. I love them with all my heart… and most days they drive absolutely bonkers! I have spent the past 13 years taking care to ensure that my children are healthy and happy.
I have always been focused on making sure they eat right. Limit candy, limit sugar, no caffeine, eat the appropriate servings of fruits/veggies, etc. I even made their baby food. I can’t tell where that all came from, since, I grew up on a diet of Ramen noodles and Frozen burritos! Yet, I’m pretty sure that’s it. My mom rarely cooked and my siblings and I somehow managed to all become cooks in our own rights.
When it comes to my children’s health, I always been proactive and into preventative care. I definitely believe in medication when necessary, and despite public concerns, we get flu shots every year (and no kid has ever had the flu to date!).
But, I am “that mom”….
Before I hand out meds: Did you eat? Have you drank water? Are you hot? Do you have a tummy ache? Did you poop? (OMG MoM!?!?)
Don’t get me wrong, if you have a fever, or I saw you cut yourself or bust your head open, I will dish out the Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen. I just prefer to try any natural alternative before popping pills.
So like I said earlier, being a working mom, with a ton of things on my plate, continues to become overwhelmingly stressful. My children are older, but with that comes other challenges: harder homework, independence, hormones, etc. I’ve spent the last few years trying to find ways to help myself and my kids cope. Personally, I’m not a fan of meds for emotional issues in kids. Unless, however, nothing else has helped and the situation for everyone is unmanageable. It’s nothing personal, to each his own. I just know, for my family, as much as I flip out on my kids and cannot stand when they talk back- I don’t want them to be zombies either. Let me also explain, that I have worked in the Mental health field for the last 9 yrs and I can totally see the benefits of medications and preach about the importance of following Dr’s orders on a regular basis. Just not for my kids, not right now at least.
Of course, the creative person that I am, encourages my children to write down their feelings, keep a journal read a big, draw a picture, dance, sing, run, scream- whatever helps get the feelings out! But some things need some added support…
This is why, in the last year, some amazing friends and colleagues told me I had to try essential oils.
I quickly realized, this was the right path for our family. Collectively we not only suffer from stress, but also allergies, back pain, eczema, headaches, migraines, attention issues, mood swings, and sleep problems. (Just to name a few!)
I learned all about different oils that help promote wellness in a variety of areas. I bought a starter kit and jumped right in! Within days, probably more like hours, I noticed a difference. I diffused oils into the air for aromatherapy and for their lovely scents. But more than that, I use my oils topically for all kinds of things. I noticed the oils had been helping to lift my moods, enhancing focus, boost immunity, reducing seasonal sniffles, promoting restful sleep, improved skin, etc. I even got the kids on board.
It’s been 6 months and we are an oil loving family! Well, Dad wont admit that he is a believer yet but he still gives me his wrist or foot before bed and doesn’t argue. I have gotten to the point where I NEED my oils. It’s noticeable when they are absent. You think you get low battery anxiety, well I get oil separation anxiety!!
Young Living Essential Oils is the company I belong too. They are a family business who takes pride in their products with their Seed to Seal commitment. They grow the crops and produce and bottle their own al natural %100 Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.Their products are outstanding and they have amazing costumer service.
I am so grateful for this company and what they have to done to improve the health and quality of life for my family. I cant stop sharing how much I love my oils. You don’t have to believe me, but if you are interested I would love to share them with you. My 13 yr old son even spent $70 of his own Birthday money to put in on his own fancy diffuser this month and both my girls have diffusers on their Christmas lists! If that doesnt speak for itself, I don’t know what will!
Feel free to message me for more info or if you are interested in falling in love with oils like I have:
